Nahum: The Goodness of God
In Life Lines, we are considering Nahum's statement" :The LORD is good "
God is good because He loves. Because of His love, He has made His grace available to man. Basically, grace means favor. So divine grace is the unearned, unmerited, undeserved favor of God. Putting it in different words: Divine grace is the bestowal of divine favor where, from a human standpoint, such favor is not deserved.
Beloved, believer, God highly favored you by His grace when He convicted you of your sin and saved your soul. In Ephesians 2:8-10, we read:
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
You are His workmanship, so give Him all the glory and praise.
Dear reader, if you have never experienced God's grace in the forgiveness of sin, don't delay, for in Romans 2:4 the Holy Spirit directed Paul to write: "Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and long-suffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?"
Repent and enjoy the riches of His goodness.
