The
Fitness Activities & Athletic Programs:
The athletic program consists
of Pop Warner Football, and The Hard Work Training Program, The discipline
required for these athletic/fitness activities helps to channel their youthful
energy in positive ways and has a lasting impact, especially for girls who have
limited opportunities to become involved in fitness/athletic activities.
Life Skills Development:
The Raiders' staff, coaches
and parents work as a team to address anti-social, self¬-centered/selfish and
irresponsible behaviors that youth may exhibit in the process of participating
in fitness/athletic activities. Music, dance and rap sessions are also planned
for the future to stimulate the students' creative abilities and to provide
them with opportunities for self-expression.
Entrepreneurial Activities:
Enrolled youth are taught the
basic principals of operating a small business. After being taught how a
merchandise based business operates, they then have the opportunity to run the
concession stand and to sell Boston Raiders' merchandise and refreshments at
all games. These entrepreneurial activities have over the last 10 years become
an important part of the organization's operating budget and have helped to
influence many Raiders over the years to become businessmen.
Educational Activities:
While youth are currently
referred to tutoring program for assistance with homework, the Boston Raiders
plan to raise the funding required to provide tutoring and academic coaching
for enrolled youth as current after-school programs are oversubscribed and an
increasing number of enrolled youth are struggling to achieve the average C
grade required to participate in the Raiders program.
