Dear Interested Student,

I am the C/ Commanding Officer of the Chaparral HS Navy JROTC Company. My name will remain anonymous throughout this letter as I, like all Commanding Officers previous to myself, simply do not wish to promote my own well-being through the writing of this letter but rather to promote the growing interest within you to become one of us. To become a NJROTC Cadet.

The change is difficult. It will require you to commit 110% of yourself at all times. We strive for success and wish to see that light shine bright for all who proudly call themselves "Cadets". In a way we are a family. We are a unit bound together by the common interest to do good. At no time will we commit any act of wrong-doing.

To become a cadet you must understand the basic principles of honor, courage, and commitment, our core values. We do not ask that you physically show power as mind always triumphs over matter. Rather we ask for a deeper sense of honor, a deeper sense of courage, and a deeper sense of commitment. The type that resides within each and everyone one of us. The type that gives you more power than any rifle, blade, or hammer ever will.

To reach this strength you must set goals for yourself. Like all goals worth striving for, they are not easy to earn. To be successful you must commit yourself to a goal way above your initial boundries. In turn you will place yourself in a never-ending state of improvement. We are here to give you that extra nudge, that extra boost of determination so you can plunge head-on into what life brings and do so confidently as we will help you to overcome all obstacles in that plunge. This program, the Navy JROTC, is your calling to success.

Very Respectfully,
Your Proud C/ Commanding Officer
