Unit History
The Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) program was established by Congress in 1964 to be in high schools all around the nation. Chaparral High School (home of the Pumas) holds the honor to have incorporated the NJROTC program into its curriculum and thus our CHS Navy JROTC unit was born...
Our Chaparral High School NJROTC Unit was officially up and running in August of 2010. We had fifteen (15) cadets, a small portable building, and hopes for a successful future. Instructors LtCol Paul Bishop and QMCS Michael Hodell worked with cadets toward building up an ever-growing program within Chaparral High School.
