Youth Baseball and Softball is for young people who are presently in Kindergarten through 6th grade and reside in the Marion School District . Marion Youth Baseball and Softball is composed of six leagues, four baseball leagues; Tee Ball, Grasshoppers, Minors and Majors and two travel softball leagues; Twilights and Juniors. Once girls are in 3rd grade they may choose to participate in either softball or hardball.

Baseball

Tee Ball (utilizing the batting tee rather than the pitched ball), is for players in Kindergarten. Kindergarteners are eligible for Tee-Ball only. It is essentially an instructional league where hitting, throwing and catching a baseball are taught for the first time. The ball is hit from a tee at home plate and as the level increases the tee may be removed on a player by player basis.

Grasshoppers: Consists of boys and girls in 1st and 2nd grade. Batting and fielding are primary goals. Introduction to pitched balls is made through coach pitch.

Minor League Baseball: Consists of boys and girls in 3rd and 4th grade. Players are first introduced to a pitched ball by another player. Batting and fielding is emphasized at this level.

Major League Baseball: Consists of boys and girls in 5th and 6th grade. Players continue skill and experience advancement. All aspects of the game are built upon.

2008 Majors - Minors and Majors has combined into a single league consisting of 3rd thru 6th grade. 

Softball

Travel Softball - Twilights: Consist of girls in 3rd or 4th grade. Players are first introduced to a slow pitched softball by another player. Batting and fielding is emphasized at this level. Home games are played in the Marion Town Park . Away games are played in Williamson, Sodus, Ontario and Walworth.

Travel Softball - Juniors: Consists of girls ranging in age from 11-13 (typically in 5th, 6th or 7th grade). Players are first introduced to a fast pitched softball by another player. Players continue skill and experience advancement. All aspects of the game are built upon. Home games are played in the Marion Town Park . Away games are played in Williamson, Sodus, Ontario and Walworth.
