Psalm 103
Today let's have a brief study of Psalm 103. The Psalm starts out by an affectinate and grateful praise to the Lord: "Bless the LORD, O my soul..." This comes from deep within David's soul, for he says:"...all that is within me, bless His holy name."
Please notice that David acknowledges the holiness of God, which is missing in our society today. At this time in our history, man feels that, if there is a God, He is obligated to secure man's well-being regardless of man's lifestyle. This concept is false.
God is holy as seen in Habakkuk 1:13: "Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity..." Furthermore, God requires holiness from those who want His blessing. "Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy." (1 Peter 1:16)
Even though God is holy and man is evil, His love has provided a means whereby sinful, wicked man can be forgiven. We see this in Romans 5:6: "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly." The same truth is expressed in verse 8: "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Dear reader, are you still in your sins? If so remember: the sinless Son of God, Jesus Christ, died for you so your sins could be forgiven and that you might receive eternal life.
