League Assistant Support Base

Item #1:

Be sure to set the "date for determing a players age" on the organization form - player tab to the date your league uses. The default date used in the sample databases is set to a prior year.

Discussion of Item #1:

Changing the date to the correct one for your league will make the "player's age" calculation correct. Also, after you change the date rerun the "set players age" on the Admin tab to update all of your players records to the proper playing age.

Item #2:

An error is reported when using League Assistant with Windows 2000.

Discussion of Item #2:

Microsoft apparently changed something in Windows 2000 which resulted in many programs not operating properly. The problem was corrected in Windows XP and League Assistant works great in Windows XP. Supported operating systems for League Assistant are: Windows 95, Windows 98, of Windows XP.

Item #3:

1/4/97 - Mangers/Coaches & Players for each team are needed on the same report.
4/6/97 - Report listing players by jersey number is also needed.

Discussion of Item #3:

Response - August 30, 1997 a solution using Microsoft Access 95 follows:

Download teamrpt.exe into a temporary directory and execute teamrpt.exe from that directory. Instructions for installing the new reports into League Assistant are in the readme.txt file included in the download.

Please note to use these new reports you must have Microsoft Access 95.

Two new League Assistant reports are documented in the included (in the teamrpt.exe) readme file.

The first report lists all personnel associated with a team (adults and players). Contained on the report is uniform information along with basic name, address, age, etc.

The second report was requested by a football organization. The report is sorted by team then by player uniform number. This report assumes that Misc Number 1 contains the player's jersey number and Misc Text 2 contains the school the player attends. This report would typically be used on game day to aid in "announcing" the lineups and play by play activities.

Update: October 27, 2000 - The above mentioned solution is available in the set of Office 95 and Office 97 compatible databases which are available for download. Please return to the League Assistant Home Page to download the updated databases.

Question #1:

I have a copy of Crystal ReportsŪ and would like to modify one or more of League Assistant's reports or, possibly create a new one, can I share my file(s) with other users so that they benefit from my enhancement(s)?

Response to Question #1:

Sure, send us an EMAIL at al.com describing your new or modified report(s). We will respond to you with instruction on how to transmit the file(s) to us. We will make a new download page similiar to our "Links/Resources" page so others can take advantage of your work.

Question #2:

I have a scheduling or other type of youth sports program that others may find useful. Can I share my program with others?

Response to Question #2:

Sure, as long as no copyrights are infringed upon.

If you have an Internet site, we can make a link to your site. Once there, the user could then navigate to your download area. If you do not have an Internet site and the program is small in size, we can post your program at this site and provide the download capability for it.

Question #3:

When uninstalling League Assistant the error "Some components could not be removed from your computer" is reported. What causes this error message?

Response to Question #3:

The League Assistant "uninstall" program does not know about any files that you may have created after you installed the software. The cause of the error is usually that you have created a file in the League Assistant directory.

Typically you would create your files in a seperate directory. For baseball organizations, you might consider creating a directory "aseball" off of the root directory and in that directory place all of the files associated with your organization.
