Knights announce 2009 awards winners

Guard Alonzo Holmes was selected the Knights Most Valuable Player after leading the team in scoring during the 2009 season. Holmes, who drew alot of interest from college coaches during the summer especially after a series of stellar performances during the Big Shots Myrtle Beach, SC events averaged 16.8 ppg during the season and 18.3 ppg during the Big Shots NCAA Showcase events. Defensive stopper Lamarr Coles claimed Most Valuable Player honors on defense and point guard Tashawn Griffin earned Most Valuable Player honors for his offensive talents. Other Knights players who were recognized not only with team accolades but from various event administrators were: Dequan Browne (MVP at the 2009 Virginia State Championships), Juandrico Walker (Most Outstanding Player), Tyrice Thomas (Most Valuable Player during the Big Shots NCAA Showcase series), and DeQuan Rivera (Most Valuable Player at the Big Shots event in Charlotte, NC).
