The Knights survived a horrendous shooting performance at the free throw line in the second half hitting just 5 of 12 attempts and held on for a 48-46 win against BWSL Phantom Elite in the championship game of the Virginia Beach Storm Labor Day Classic. The Knights trailed by four at the half but used relentless full court pressure defense in the second half to go up by as many as 11 points with just over four minutes left before hitting the free throw shooting slump. With Phantom Elite forced to foul, the Knights began a constant march to the free throw line but too often left empty handed allowing the Phoebus based Phantom Elite to close in on the lead. Guard Tashawn Griffin, who was named the tournaments Most Valuable Player was the only Knights player to score in double figures netting 22 points to lead the way. The Knights played the event as a late fill in and were without four regulars including a pair of starters but managed to claim the tournament title. With the win, the Knights improved to 33-8 on the year. Scoring: Griffin (26), Browne (6), Lewis (5), Thomas (5), A Holmes (4), K Holmes (2)...
