Knights win championship of Bridgewater College Showcase 74-61

In a game that saw both teams exchange runs in a tightly contested battle for three quarters, it was the exhausted and injury riddled Knights who forced their will in the games final 8 minutes running away with a 74-61 win over BWSL Phantom Elite in the championship game of the Bridgewater College Showcase. Alonzo Holmes ignited the offense with a game high 18 points while Tyrice Thomas recorded a double-double grabbing a game high 12 rebounds along with 13 points. Meanwhile Lamarr Coles provided the defensive spark with 8 steals and as importantly an inspiring pep talk during a late timeout, a rare occurance for the usually reserved Coles. Finishing a tough semi-final win just 16 minutes earlier and already short two players due to injuries received during the event, the Knights gathered themselves and showed the heart of a champion in a dominating fourth quarter performance outscoring the top seed Phantom Elite 24-9 in the final stanza, executing to near perfection the full court defensive scheme Coach Ed Jones had crafted. Dejuan Wright (12 points) and Tashawn Griffin (10 points) helped the Knights pull away from a Phantom Elite team that collapsed under the Knights relentless fourth quarter defensive pressure. With the win, the Knights claimed the championship of the Bridgewater College Showcase event and improved their season record to 31-8.
