Knights avenge loss to Carolina Flight with 53-41 win

The Knights only loss of the weeklong Big Shots recruiting showcase came at the hands of Carolina Flight, a 4 point heartbreaker that saw the Knights second leading rebounder Steve Woods watch helplessly from the bench with an ankle sprain as the Knights were outrebounded by 14 to the much taller Flight.
In this rematch the Knights rebounding problems were again evident as they fell behind by as many as 11 points late in the first half before launching an inspiring comeback displaying the grit on both ends of the floor they hadn't shown over the last five games. Alonzo Holmes, Tyrice Thomas and DeQuan Rivera were once again the architects of a gritty defensive effort and efficient offensive performance as they steadied the Knights igniting a 9-3 run to finish the first half with Rivera getting a pair of big steals but more importantly stopping the dribble penetration that had hampered the Knights on the defensive end. Meanwhile, Holmes (18 points) and Thomas (10 points) were cutting into the lead and had the Knights in the lead by halftime 31-28.
In the second half the Knights finally became the aggressors on the boards as Steve Woods and Tracy Elliott became more active around the basket and the Knights team rebounding became much more intense as the Knights claimed a second half rebounding advantage and cruised during the games final six minutes to a 53-41 win.
The Knights improved to 20-4 on the season and 3-1 in the Big Shots event.
