With Steve Woods, the Knights second leading rebounder confined to the bench nursing an ankle sprain the Knights struggled to rebound with the taller Carolina Flight and suffered a hard fought 63-59 setback in the opening game of the Big Shots Recruiting Showcase in Myrtle Beach, SC. Alonzo Holmes was a bright spot for the Knights hitting a team high 22 points and Juandrico Walker contributed 10 more as the Knights kept it close throughout despite the rebounding disadvantage. The toughest matchup for the Knights was 6'8 Georges MaNgoue who was a standout performer at the Dave Telep Evaluation Camp earlier this summer. Here is an excerpt from his camp evaluation: "Georges MaNgoue, C/F (6-8, 230) Grade:F93 Junior, Lewisville, N.C./Forsyth Country Day This exchange student from Cameroon, Africa, is loaded with potential. He is a very gifted athlete, with good size, strength, and power inside. However, he is still somewhat raw and undeveloped offensively. MaNgoue has a great work ethic, and knows how to play the game. He just needs to improve his low post scoring skills. He rebounds effectively, boxes out, and defends the post very well. With a year of good coaching at Forsyth Country Day, MaNgoue should become a solid major college prospect." The game was played in front of over 45 college coaches who stayed throughout the tightly contested matchup. Scoring: A. Holmes 22, Walker 10, Thomas 8, Hassell 7, Daniels 7, Jackson 3, Coles 2...
