Knights reduce USBA event schedule, focus on NCAA certified showcase events

Date: May 15, 2009 at 13:34

The Knights Elite has opted to reduce their USBA schedule to only include the state championship event and an early June "warm-up" event in an effort to saturate the exposure circuit affording their players maximum exposure during the crucial July "live" periods.
The Knights have won both USBA qualifiers handily going 7-0 in two events and winning both championship games by an average of 23 points. Playing in the state championship tournament will be the final USBA event of the season as the national championships are not NCAA certified which means Div I and Div II NCAA coaches cannot attend. With the Big Shots - Myrtle Beach event already being attended by over 350 college coaches, it is obvious teams looking to gain exposure for their players will flood that circuit leaving the USBA event watered down talent wise and lacking of necessary exposure for players hoping to showcase their talents.
The schedule change means Knights' players will enjoy more exposure this summer than any other team in Virginia by far.
The increasingly popular Big Shots events have become the main source for college coaches in search of talent. The two "live" periods in July will find more coaches at the Big Shots events than at AAU, USSSA and USBA combined making the switch to Big Shots an easy choice for teams looking to increase exposure for their players.

Here is a look at the Knights revised 2009 schedule, the toughest yet potentially most rewarding agenda of any team in Virginia:

March 27-29 - Charlotte, NC - Tournament of Champions
April 17-19 - Martinsville, VA - USBA Southside VA Spring Slam
May 8-10 - Chantilly, VA - Nike/Baltimore Elite Invitational
