The Knights capped another tournament title clinching weekend with a 61-50 win against the Barton Heights Ballas running their season opening winning streak to 7 games. The Knights inside game was overpowering as Tracy Elliott, Steve Woods (9 points each) and Joe Hassell (7 points) combined for 25 points and 16 rebounds in the win. The Knights went on a 12-3 run midway through the second half to break open the game and win the 2009 Southside Virginia Spring Slam Championship against a "Ballas" team comprised mostly of John Marshall High School players who lost a heart breaker in the VHSL state semifinals to Mills Godwin just more than a month ago.
