Hot shooting Holmes earns MVP, Knights claim Tournament of Champions title with 95-67 win

Alonzo Holmes led six Knights in double figures scoring a game high 19 points on 7 of 8 shooting including 5 of 5 from beyond the three point arc as the Knights finished off a dominant weekend performance with a 95-67 championship game win in the Tournament of Champions event in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Knights improved to 4-0 on the season thanks to balanced scoring and stifling defensive pressure outscoring their North Carolina counterparts by nearly 70 points during the weekend event. In the title game, the Knights shook off a slow start then unloaded a relentless attack on the Mooresville Predators and for the second time in as many days handed the North Carolina based Predators an overwhelming defeat outscoring the tournaments championship finalists 157-99 in the two meetings. Steve Woods added 18 points in the win including a pair of rim rattling dunks, fast becoming a common sight from the high flying 6'4 forward. Kevin Lewis chipped in with 12 points and 9 assists while Tracy Elliott and Joe Hassell contributed 11 points and 13 rebounds apiece in the title clinching game.
