Norfolk Knights win national title with 89-82 OT win!

Date: August 12, 2007 at 09:25

The Norfolk Knights were pushed to overtime for the second consecutive game, this time after closing regulation on a 13-5 run and eventually took over the extra period and won the national title with an 89-82 win against the Indy Speice Wolfpack.
Chris Astorga, whose tip at the buzzer rimmed out led all scorers with 23 points and Tracy Elliott added his fourth double-double of the event with a 20 point, 15 rebound effort to lead the way.
The Knights trailed by as many as 11 points in the third quarter before marching back behind the defense of Keith Cooper and a pair of big Cooper three's to spark a pair of late second half runs.
Tim Burns had 8 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter as he assumed point guard duties and used a variety of ballhandling moves and power moves around the basket to help the Knights battle back to tie 79-79 with 21 seconds left. The Knights had three shots at the basket in the final seconds but 2 rimmed out and the final try bounded off the back of the rim. In overtime, Lamar Little scored 6 of his 14 points and Tim Burns continued his solid effort as the Knights went on to win 89-82 and claim the national championship.
