Burns, Elliott are co-MVP's in National Championship run

Date: August 02, 2007 at 00:16
Like warriors they battled through painful injuries and led the Knights charge to a national championship run. They each produced double-double performances in four of the Knights 7 games at the USSSA National Championships and despite injury were able to twice outrebound and outscore an Indiana Dawgs front court that featured 3 starters 6'9 or better and a reserve that brought a 6'9 318 pound frame onto the floor. Tracy Elliott and Tim Burns were selected co-MVP's of the title run after battling injuries and exhaustion and won over the respect of their opponents as well with their show of grit and determination. Burns averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds while Elliott contributed averages of 11 points and 13 rebounds during the weeklong title hunt. It was with that example the Knights co-captains inspired their teammates to a 2007 National Title run in USSSA Division II.
