  • Update Left Column (no advertising sites only). This selection is used for adding or modifying the "links" in the left column. Two types of left column links are provided, primary and minor. Up to 15 primary links and 50 minor links can be added to your left column. Instructions for completing this form are displayed in the selection.
  • Update Top of Page Banner Bar (no advertising sites only). This selection allows you to change the color, logo, text headings, add wallpaper or use your own pre-made top of page banner bar. Form selections allow you to set font colors, sizes, styles as well as allowing you to change the left side InfoSports logo to a logo or image of your choice. If you add your own image/logo the maximum width is 200 pixels and the maximum height is 66 pixels. Optionally you may create your own banner bar (with your own graphics program). If you create your own banner bar the dimensions should be 760 pixel width and 54 pixel height.
  • Update Top of Page Banner Bar (tournament sites with advertising only). This selection allows you to add up to 10 links to the top of page banner bar.
  • Change Colors, Fonts or Backgrounds (no advertising sites only). This selection is used to control the overall appearance of your website and associated pages. Colors are set using the hex code system which is nicely explained on an external website (follow the link on the form). On the bottom of the form is an area which allows you to control the background colors for the various sections of your team application.
  • Administer Tournament Manager. This selection has its own help page (button in the left column).
  • Administer Email Names and Addresses (no advertising sites only), Administer Photo Album. These selections have their own explanation at the top of the form.
  • Make Headline. This selection is used to modify your home page "featured headline". For example, on this User Guide the "feature headline" is made up of the multiple sports logo and the text below it. Usually you want to keep the text area small enough so that it is about the same size as the area of the display to its right. If you have a long article you should consider first creating an article page containing the complete article text. Then, take the first paragraph of so and put its text in the text area of the Make Headline form. At the end of this text you can add a HTML link ("more") linking to the main article. The making of a link is described in the Basic HTML Manual (link in left column).
  • View Headline. Used to view the headline before making it available for viewing on the home page. To make the headline appear on the home page you must perform a Remake Home Page (simply display the Remake Home Page form and select the Submit button) when you wish to make the headline public.
  • Archive and Restore Headline. These selection allow you to archive the current headline for possible later use. Headlines typically are some important event which you probably would like to keep in a headline archive. The restore operation allows you to recall a previously saved headline. You could have a "generic" type of headline available for display when there isn't any big news things happening. News type headlines typically run for a short period (a week or so) and then are taken off (since they are no longer news). Before taking a news headline off you should first consider archiving it.
  • Remake Home Page. Controls the overall contents of the information displayed on your website's home page. The selections available on this form are self explanatory. When you submit the form your home page is rebuilt.
  • Add Article - Add Page. Add Article is used for creating articles. When you create an article the system assigns it a page number (displayed in bold print when you submit the article). You then use that page number to add a link to the article. If you forget the page number you can recall it by using the Display/Remove Page menu item. Add Article is different from Add Page in that Add Page is used when you want to use extensive HTML coding. For example these text help pages were created using Add Page. Add Article automatically adds a new line or a paragraph break to your article when appropriate. Add Page does not. Also Add Article automatically ads a bold face title line at the top of the article. Generally, unless you are doing something special with HTML, you would use the Add Article.
  • Display/Remove Page. You can think of this selection as being a "table of contents" with the added capability of being able to delete unneeded pages. The selection lists article pages which have been created. On the left side a page number is diplayed. To add a link to the page you would construct a URL in the form of 1234.shtml where 1234 is a placeholder for the page number and .shtml is the type of page it is. Pages which you no longer need can be deleted by clicking on the selection box then submitting the form.
  • Upload Image/File. This is the "uploader" which you will use to upload files or images to your website. There is a file size limit which the uploader enforces. The file upload size is 150K bytes. Files larger than this are rejected.
  • Display Directory - Remove File. Display Directory tells you all of the files contained in the /image directory. Displayed on the right side of the form are the filenames. You can remove files which you no longer need with the File Remove utility. To easily pick up a filename (for removal), run the cursor over the displayed filename, then select Control C to copy the filename to the clipboard. You can then paste this filename into the Remove File form.
  • Add Game Score, Add Message, Clear Ticker. These selection are used to add/clear text to/from your WebScores ticker. The WebScores ticker is an optional feature which you can turn on or off via the "Remake Home Page" selection. Naturally you would need the ticker turned on to be able to see you ticker text on your home page. The WebScores ticker uses a JAVA program which does slow the load time for your home page. If you need a ticker it is available but you should be made aware that some visitors do not allow JAVA programs to run in their browser so they would not be able to see the ticker. Therefore, the ticker shouldn't be used for important items since some visitors will not be able to see it.
  • Change Admin Password. Used for changing the admin password to your website.
  • Add Link - Remake Index. By default a link to your website is not included in the InfoSports website index page. If you would like your website listed (thus making it available to the general public) you do this with the add link selection. The rebuild index selection tells the server to rebuild the InfoSports website index page.
  • Reset Website Page Counter to Zero. Reset your home page counter to zero. Note: If you do not want a counter on your page you can remove it via a selection on the Remake Home Page form.
  • Display / Clear Event Log. Tournament events (new or modified applications) are recorded in a log. You can view or clear the log with these selections. Because your log is stored in the private section of the website (no advertising sites) you will need to enter your user id and private section password to view the log. The user id is your site abbreviation.
  • Various Private Section Operations (no advertising sites only). The items listed here perform the same function as similar items mentioned above. The only difference being is the operation is performed on that item in the private section. You use the private section of your website for items that you do not want the general public to look at. Possible uses could be a team roster, team statistics, player phone numbers.
