Blocking Rules Free For All

Ok, let's start a serious topic and see what kind of participation we can have. I am trying to decide on the VERY best, if there is such a thing, blocking system for 9 -10's. As a relatively new coach, and a former college defensive back, it is my weakest suit and I am sure for most new coaches it is one of the biggest hurdles to successful teams.

I know that some offenses lend themselves to one system over another, but in general the best blocking system is going to be one the boys can understand and consistently get a piece of the man they are supposed to. As I told my 9 - 10's this year, "a bad block on the right guy is better than a good block on the wrong guy."

Seems there are 3 - 5 main schemes people use at this age. I am sure there are more but these are the ones that seem to appear the most:
1. SAB 2. GOD (Gap-On-Down) 3. Dbl inside of POA, kick outside 4. GOL (Gap-On-LB) 5. Wedge to center from both sides

The next question is how much pulling is done at this age and what combination of pulling and blocking scheme works the best, and why.

Again I know there are others but what I thought we could do is to beat up why one is better than the other. I hope to find a consensus for this age group and understand what some have seen work consistently year in and year out and why?

I thank everyone in advance for your participation and I hope that everyone will speak forcefully for their position and convince the entire group why they are right!

This can be a great dialogue if everyone will participate. Thanks.
