Dum coach
By: Dum Coach
"Am I pushing for the 46?" Not really. I was just rereading my license agreement today with the existing DC-46 coaches (Yes. You're licensed to use it.) and it clearly states that those coaches licensed to use it are required to keep me updated on their current E mail address. In effect, DC-46 coaches have an exclusive franchise agreement (I have three university business degrees) to have the sole rights to the defense within their league. That means, if anyone else in your area already has the DC-46, you ain't getting it. I stopped sharing the DC-46 awhile back when many DC-46 coaches changed their E mail addresses and I could no longer determine if they were actively coaching or not. I did not wish to violate the license agreement. However, it is their responsibility to keep me advised of any E mail address changes. If they don't do that, another coach can be licensed within their league. So, yes, the DC-46 is not off the market. That doesn't mean that I will continue to "give it away" as I have done with the DC Wing T. I give the DC Wing T away free because it's about kids having fun - And kids are entitled to have fun. That's why I coach. However, any coach applying for the DC-46 isn't applying for it to "have fun". He wants it to win the league trophy. There's a difference. It's not about the kids anymore. It's about winning. He's not "entitled" to that right. And I'm entitled to charge money for that knowledge. It's not that I'm greedy or even need the money - as much as the fact that I've pretty much covered everything an offense can do to it (This is my 8th year of running it - And still haven't given up a TD sweep yet.). I am now able to deliver a quality product to anyone out there desiring it. I just need the incentive to actually go make a training film to go with it. I have to make the film anyway for my assistants. I figure charging for it will get me off my butt and actually make it. That's to everyone's benefit that I do so. Anyway, you can use the DC WingT manual to get an idea of how I get kids - even dumb kids - to play really good football. Then you can decide, when (and if) I've made my film, if you want the DC-46 or not. I figure the manual is worth $ 40 and manual plus film $ 99. Again, not pulling a "capitalist" thing here as I doubt that there's any money in this and I'd still be granting exclusive franchises (I won't let you waste your money by selling to a competitor of yours too. You'll get what you pay for - the chance to win.). Plus, I'd rather have restaruant coupons than cash because, eventually, I'm going to retire as a coach (probably pretty soon) and I'll be taking my wife out to dinner on those coupons and she can finally get some payback for the 17 years she's put up with me putting in my time for free at this. I may be hanging up my whistle but this will be my contribution to the game and my way of staying involved.
