Protective Cups and Testicular Injury

By: Dan

I think not wearing a hard cup for contact sports is asking for trouble. While the soft cups may offer some protection, they do not eliminate the chance of injury. When I was in seventh grade, I never wore a cup for gym class or any sports, for that matter because I figured they weren't really necessary. One day, we were playing football and the ball took a bad bounce and got me where it counts. I was in quite a bit of pain for a while, but fortunately no serious injury occured. After that, I got a cup supporter and wore it faithfully any time there was a chance of injury. While there could be a chance of injury if the supporter was the wrong size, I think there is a MUCH greater chance of injury if no supporter at all is worn. Be safe guys--wear a cup.
