PLAYING CORNER

Don't make those mistakes!

Seriously, make sure he knows exactly what his responsibility is on his team in each coverage. If he has contain responsibility, make sure he knows to attack the lead blocker from the outside in. Notice I said attack, not be attacked. He must FORCE the play inside, not hope his "rain dance" on the outside will cause the runner to go inside.

If he has coverage responsibility, don't take his eyes off his recvr's belly button until he knows ball is across the LOS.

Work on tackling outside in, head on outside, to avoid the dip in and juke out. Make sure he breaks down into the ball carrier with an angle of attack that forces the runner to the inside where he can commit to the tackle.

Make sure he knows that he has to be putting shoulder pads into stomach or lower and not try to tackle chest to chest.

As coach very accurately put it, reps reps and more reps. Get him to tell you what to do on every poss scenario in every coverage and every responsibility that his team gives him and then walk him through it, then run him through it.

He will get it, as long as you and his coach can tell him EXACTLY what is expected of him.
