First game report and question

I am a rookie HC. SO running the entire show can get a little over whelming I know. I lined my kids up in D 10min. before our first scrimmage. We scrimmaged the "fun bowl" champs from last year, and never gave up more than 5 yds on a play.

I also learned who was good at their position and who was not. It is a fun D, especially if you have agressive kids. You need lots of LB talent too. I have 3 kids who could play LB that don't. They are 2nd string. I have 2 at DE and another at CB.

As DC can attest to. Their is a weakness that can be exploited in a 4-4. But since most little league coaches think 5-3 or 7-1, they fail to coach how to block a 4-4. The Cntr gets confused, and leaves a gap for my ILB to shoot almost evry time. All I have to do is pick which ILB to "lightning" and let the other play "Mike" from a 4-3. Most of all it is fun, and gets lots of tackles for losses. My 2 ILBs had 5-6 tackles for losses in our first game. But since they were wreaking so much havock, the other coach adjusted to pick them up. But these are still little league kids and when they did my Better DT was in the back field all day. He got the most "Skull and Cross Bones" stickers. 4 Tackles for losses and a fumble recovery.

Good Luck!
