Ejected player

Can someone please help me? Like most of you I too have coached for a long time. I will get right to the point. Two Saturdays ago, my son was ejected from a game. I am not his head coach, I am the Paramedic and team “Motivator” if you will. We had recieved an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and my son (who is 15, weighs 128 pounds and bench presses 150!) Was the defensive captain and asked “what did we do”? He has that right as the captain. He was not answered. He asked again and he was ejected!

We all know how much we disagree with ref’s, well this time the Pop Warner President of our league, would not defend my son. I know the rules, and it says .....ejected that game, plus the next game. Pretty much the same rules for high school, which also governs Pop Warner.

Ok so yesterday he didnt go to the game. He has been quite depressed and hasnt felt good since. He did nothing wrong. Well at 0900 today, his head coach calls me and said that “the president of our league, got with Mid_Florida Pop warner and because my son wasn't present at the last game........he is also suspended for the next game, because he didnt sit on the bench! Absolutely ridiculous. I have researched all governing rules this am and nothing says such garbage!

Can you guys please help me, before my son just quits? Which right now I wouldnt blame him. If we could keep adults out of youth sports we would have something.

What can I do as a coach and as a father? This is obviously a power struggle. What "Life lesson" are they trying to teach these children?

Please help a father and coach in need!

Thanks
Glenn
