In as much as im in a recreational league here in Cleveland, Ohio (lakewood, actually, a small suburb), we dont have pop warner, and all of what you guys are talking about is foreign....we have a cyo league (catholic) and our....4 teams of 5th/6th/7th graders....we're under the guise of the school board, and all that goes with that....but there are no parent meetings or none of that stuff... we have our share of parental trouble, but, hey, like you said....it goes with the territory....(you know John Elway's son plays qb on a pop warner team? imagine the "parental influence" there?)...so you have, basically, what amounts to all star teams? all the kids from that county on ONE team? so, the A County Beavers, vs. B County Eagles, basically,? so, then, the whole county shows up, and it becomes MORE than a game, and all that?
here, we have brothers, and cousings, and friends all playing on opposite teams, and coming and going to practices and games together, etc...it dont have the same rivalry with the parents, but the kids take it seriously on saturdays (game day) and thats all that matters, i guess...
