Keeping Moms Off the Football Field

You re welcome, coach wade..we re not that fortunate......we had a boy break his arm (landed on it wrong) in a game....His father was at the game, and took him to the hospital (its only a few blocks away)..and another boy broke a wrist in a scrimmage at practice...got it smashed by a helmet....his parents were not there, and another coach took him to the hospital, and called the parents...and another boy landed on his shoulder, and seperated it...paramedics were called and so were the parents....those are clear cut cases of what to do....its the bumps and scrapes and bruises you have to make a judgement call on right away...usually, thankfully, theyre not too serious (our games are played on astro turf at the high school, which is, of course, another set of problems)...i usually do a follow up call to the parents that nite to make sure they know what happened and get their opinion of the situation, etc...usually, they say the boy is ok, and he ll be back tomorrow...and thats fine, just to know they know and understand makes me feel better...id want that from my kids coach...and it reinforces the fact that we DO actually care about those kids!!!!
