speed

Earlier this Fall, someone posted a notice on this message board regarding a speed improvement tool. As I recall, it was some type of bungee-cord device that provided resistance as the runner was in motion. I did a limited search of the archive using the key words "improving speed", but did not find the post. It may have been put up before the archive became operable. Perhaps whomever posted the notice will see this and respond.

However, I believe I would choose quickness - especially off the line - over speed anytime. If you combine that with good blocking and tackling skills, the ability to catch the football, the discipline to run good pass routes, and good execution of fakes, then you will be an extremely valuable asset to any football team.

It is fine to attempt to improve your speed, but do not get hung up on it. Capitalize on your assets, and play with the heart of a champion. If you do these things, then I predict you will be one someday.

And never forget there will always be someone looking up to you, so be careful to maintain your integrity, ethics, and composure. Be a role model both on and off the field!

Young men like you make all of us "oldsters" proud we remain associated with this great game.

Good Luck and God Bless You,
