The boys U18 team have been very busy lately - competing in three tournaments and earning medals in each of them.

Rochester

Firstly, the team went to the Rochester CAN-AM in Rochester, New York where they battled their way to a Bronze medal.  The team lost a tough battle in the semis to Pace Bootlegger of Rochester but rallied in the Bronze medal to easily beat Eden Mizuno 2 in straight sets.  This medal earned the team a bid for the U.S. Open Junior Olympics in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the team
accepted the bid and will compete in this tournament in July.

Trenton

The team then travelled to Trenton on January 21st for the OVA McGregor Cup where they won a Silver medal.  In the finals of this competition the team looked poised to win cruising in the first set to win it 25 - 15.  But the Ottawa Mavericks held tough in the second winning 25 - 23 and then carried that momentum into the third set for the win.

Penn State

Finally, the team traveled to Penn State for the "Nittany Invitational" - a 28 team, two day marathon where they were the only Canadian Team in their age division.  The team had an easy go in the first day easily winning their pool.  In the second day power pool matches our boys dropped a match to Yorketowne and then recovered to beat rival Eden Mizuno 1, a very large
team, in three sets. The team also defeated Pace Bootlegger in power pool play.  In the quarters the team was almost ousted by United PITT a very scrappy team from Pittsburgh, but managed to earn a three set win.  In the semis the team avenged the power pool loss to Yorketowne by beating them easily in two sets.  A similar event took place in the final where Durham avenged their loss to Pace Bootlegger in Rochester by winning the finals and the Gold medal in straight sets with scores of 25 - 19, 25 - 18.

Congratulations boys, a job well done.
