It was a thrilling day in Trenton for the U15 Red Hawks.  After a disappointing first tournament earlier this year that placed them in the zones, the Red Hawks started their climb back to the top this weekend in Trenton, handily winning Gold at the 15U McGregor Cup.  This promotes the Hawks to OVA Tier 2, where in the New Year they will continue their mission of getting back to OVA Tier 1, where the Hawks played last year.

Just like the 16U tournament in Ottawa two weeks ago, all the teams in the Hawks' pool were medal winners.  Pool play again made for great volleyball for building team experience, and then the Hawks cruised through play-offs.

The girls played three set games in pool play, easily winning their pool, against National Capitals 14U (25-16, 25-21 & 25-18) and the Ottawa Kangaroos ( 25-14, 25-14 & 16-25).

The first round of play-offs brought the Hawks to the Kingston Pegasus Thunder, using great serving to easily steal their thunder, with scores of 25-10 and 25-16.
The second game of playoffs brought our girls to the Russell Ravens.  We were warned that these girls were real diggers and to be on guard.  The first set began with quite some intensity giving us some examples of what they could do, but after our girls realized that if they just played like they knew how they could they could beat them which they did with scores of 25-17 & 25-5.

The gold medal match brought the Hawks right back to where they began the day, playing the National Capitals U14 team. The girls adrenaline was running high and they were unstoppable. They knew they could win, the Gold medal was within their grasp., and the Capitals didn't have a chance.  The Hawks won Gold with scores of 25-9 & 25-12.

The Red Hawks were ON! The serving was amazing and the coverage was superb. This was a gift to the awesome, hardworking and loyal Johnson Family coaching team.  And thank-you Lindsey for filling in while Mike was off winning Gold in 18U - the girls really enjoyed having you at their side.

Watch out Tier 2, here come the Hawks!!!
