At the start of 2008-2009 Durham Attack
began a shift to a Long Term Athlete Development philosophy, based on the LTAD
model, and a bias towards development throughout the season, versus winning
every medal. Coaches were tasked with "developing every individual player
to their ultimate potential during the regular season, and the team goal of
placing as high as possible at Provincials and Nationals". Although a lot
of progress was made, this is a work in progress that will continue for the next
few years.
Our teams fared well, with a raft of Provincial and National Tier 1 Bronze,
Silver and Gold medals.

Again this season we were blessed with great coaches, and its due to their
talent and commitment to the sport of volleyball and to the development of
our athletes that we were able to accomplish what we did.

2008-2009 Girls Teams -
rosters, photos and articles
Our girls'
teams had another great year with many Provincial and National Silver and
Bronze medals, and two champions. Our youngest team, girls 13U
Black, won an unofficial Provincial Championship hosted by our
neighbours from DRVC. And our oldest team, Girls 18U Black, won
their fifth straight Provincial and National Championship.
In
between, our girls earned National Tier 1 Silver medals from 14U Black
(East), 15U Black (East and West) and 16U Black (West), and National
Bronze medal from 17U Black.
At the
Provincial level, Silver medals were earned by 16U Black (at 16U) and
17U Black, and Bronze medals by 15U Black and 16U Black (at 17U).
Our girls
SPIKES and House Leagues programs are bursting at the seams, with the
house league threatening to push through the current 24-team format in
the coming season. And five weeks of summer camps provided
opportunities for new players to develop skills required to enter our
competitive ranks.

At Nationals

And our boys
house league grew in numbers, promising a great future to the boys side
of the Club. |
