Traveling to Moncton, the girls were excited to play some competitive volleyball
and have some fun in New Brunswick at the East Nationals. The weather
didn’t cooperate and neither did lady luck. Shannon came up with an injury
during our practice session on Thursday and couldn’t play during the tournament.
But she was on the bench cheering for the team for every game. The first
match on Friday was a tie breaker win for the team against a team from Quebec.
The second match was a 2 game win against a team from New Brunswick. The
third match again a tie breaker loss to a team from Newfoundland, giving us a
2nd place finish for our pool.
Saturday games of
the power pool tier 1, saw the team lose 3 tight matches. (It didn’t help
when lady luck struck again with Emily spraining her ankle).
Sunday’s playoff
match against the Griffons, of Gatineau Quebec, was a loss to the eventual Gold
Medal winner for tier 2.
Everyone played
their best and all the matches played could have gone either way with the right
bounce.
Congratulations
to all the girls and parents for a great season, Erica, Abbey, Brooke, Shannon,
Lauren A., Maxine, Rebecca, Noelle, Emily, Lauren V., Catherine, and Christine
that saw 15U Red win 3 Golds. Thanks to Linda, Paul and Chelsea for all
your contributions and dedication and the unselfish way that you shared your
time with the team. And thanks to the parents who supported their
daughters and team as well as each other.
GO ATTACK!
