15U Black Takes Bronze at Ontario Provincials

Congratulations to the 15u girls on their Division 1 Bronze at RIM Park this past weekend!

The team came out strong and took first place in both preliminary and power pools on Saturday and Sunday. Monday morning started out well with wins over Predators Purple (25-17 & 25-21) and Toronto West (25-12 & 25-15). Then it was on to Storm Thunder in the semis and that’s when the tide turned. The girls needed a boost that never materialized and lost both games with scores of 19-25 & 21-25.

The bronze medal match followed immediately and Oakville Thunder Blue was in fighting form after coming off a close match with the number one seeded Maverick Ambush. Our girls looked pretty discouraged after their loss to Storm and gave up the first game 18-25. Game two was a different story and ended up with a 25-15 Attack win. The tie-breaker was close but our girls emerged victorious and took the match 17-15.

It was a great weekend all in all! Thanks to the coaches, parents and siblings for their strong support and for providing all kinds of fun. Kevin made a great Easter Bunny and the team enjoyed the egg hunt! The girls can be very proud of their results and for all the hard work they put in over the season. Rumor has it they can’t wait for a rematch at Nationals in Moncton.
