13U Black participated in DRVC’S version of “Provincials” at Durham College/
UOIT on Friday and Saturday. With a list of 24 teams from across the
province, Attack was excited to see teams that they had not previously played
against. The girls were up for the challenge. Pool-play on
Friday saw the girls play matches against Etobicoke, Forest City, Barrie and
Leaside. The girls finished the day with only one loss, but knew that they
were capable of playing at a higher level.
Day 2 came and all the girls brought their “A game”. They wanted to win
and it showed. All the hard work at practices finally paid off as the
girls followed the plan – bump, set, spike. With fantastic blocking at the
net, and great serving it was all coming together. Also impressive was the
fact that with a full roster of 12 players, the coaches made every effort to
play all the girls.
The girls went on to defeat Waterloo Tigers and Toronto West keeping an eye on
the prize……a final against, who else DRVC. The girls came to finish what
they had started. Final result – GOLD for Durham Attack!!
Bravo girls. You have
all come a long way from the beginning of the year. All the girls have
really improved their game, and court position. Thank you to Attack Red
and White for all their cheering and support throughout the weekend. We
couldn't have done it without you guys!! Finally but most importantly to
our coaches. It is coaches like you all that bring your knowledge and
expertise back to the community without any expectations in return that make our
children and our community a better place. Your dedication, hard work and
commitment are appreciated by all of us, girls and parents, and "THANK YOU"
doesn't seem to be enough.
Congratulations on your GOLD
MEDAL win this past weekend and bringing home the banner! You are all
Golden Girls in our hearts no matter what!!! We are very proud of all of
you girls and coaches for a wonderful end of the 13U volleyball season.
One more tournament to go...14U Provincials. No matter what the outcome,
remember how much you've learned this year, play with heart and pride and make
yourselves and your coaches proud by being good role models on and off the court
as you have demonstrated throughout the year.
