On Saturday March 7, 2009, Attack 13U Black Girls won their second consecutive
tournament gold medal at the 13U Bugarski Cup. After an almost flawless
day, losing only one game in the gold medal match, the girls managed to win the
gold medal defeating Aurora Storm Ice in the tie breaker of the gold medal game
!!! Way to go girls !!!
In their previous tournament, which was the 14U Tier 2 Hawkins Cup in
Peterborough on , the girls also won the gold medal, defeating a well coached
Interclub teams 2 games straight in the gold medal game.
Both of these medals look awesome beside the bronze medal they won in 13U in the
McGregor Cup on 24 January 2009.
Keep up the great work girls!!!

Well, Saturday March 7,
was an early start to Brighton to compete in the 13U Girls Bugarski Cup.
The parents were packed with a wonderful buffet to energize the team and the
girls were bright-eyed, pumped and ready to face their challenge. Attack
Black went undefeated in pool play with most girls accomplishing irretrievable
and perfect serving scores throughout the day. In our second match playing
against the Soaring Eagles, one of our players who has never served overhand
throughout the entire season served 5 overhand serves in a row! Also, 8
out of the 12 girls had at least 1 round of 5 perfect serves before we entered
the semi-final match. Now I call that "AMAZING".
Well the semi-final match against DRVC 13 started with high emotions and great
energy. Our girls were focused and determined to take this game. The
1st game ended in our favour 25-22 with heightened game play and strategy.
The girls were unstoppable at the net. Thanks to our DA White team who
supported us throughout the game and brought the energy in the gym to new
levels. We took the second game 25-10 sending Attack on their way to
achieving gold. They had worked hard all season for this goal.
Coming off a gold medal at the last 14U, Attack was out to prove they were the
best at 13U.
It was time to focus and get our mental and physical gears on to compete against
Storm Ice. At the same time our 13U Red team was competing for the Bronze
Medal. I can say, DA Red and Black played together in spirit and as a
family connected. Our game was nail biting and emotional. We took
the first game 25-22; a close score throughout the entire game. It could
have gone either way! Unfortunately, the girls lost some of their momentum
and with a few questionable calls we were defeated in the second game 13-25.
The girls were deflated with the second game loss but the parents were not going
to let our girls down. The cheering started, the electricity got charged
up again and the atmosphere became heated. Key serving with 2 players serving 5
each showed Aurora that Attack was on a mission. Pulling together as a
team, they finished what they came for with a convincing 15-6 gold medal win.
At the same time we heard glorious cheers from the gym next door as Attack Red
won the Bronze medal against DRVC 13! An awesome finish to a great day.
Congratulations to both teams, the players, and coaches for excellent fair play
and sportsmanship.
