It was off to Mayfield SS in Brampton again this week for the 16U Bugarski Cup. Our 15U Black girls started out seeded 4th and bettered their standing with a third place finish at the end of the day.

Attack won their pool with scores of 25-11 & 25-21 against the Acts Elite 16U and a close call 25-19, 14-25, 15-8 match against Etobicoke Titans 16U Blue. Our schedule was great so the girls had a lunch break before meeting Impact 15U in the crossover game. Impact had taken both games of our pool play last week and they came out strong. Attack lost the first game 20-25, took the second game 25-15 and won the tie breaker by a tight 15-13.

Semi-finals were up next and as luck would have it, our match was against the Scarborough Titans DYB who were the top team in the tournament. Attack lost the first game by a score of 21-25 and fell even further behind in the second game losing 12-25. Needless to say there was some advice from the coach after that one!

The bronze medal round was against the Attack16U Red team and the first game was a great match up. The score was a point by point fight and went to 28-26 before 15U brought it to a close. By this time, it was getting late, the girls were tired and the second game ended up at 25-9 for 15U. This gave the girls a bronze medal to add to their collection.

Congratulations to the girls for their strong showing in the 16U age division this season. As always, thanks to the coaches and the parents who make all this possible. With any luck, the snowy trip home on Saturday will be the last of the poor driving for this season!
