It was off to Kingston on Saturday for the 16U Challenge Cup.  The girls were pumped and ready to reverse their fortunes after a fourth place finish in the last 16U match-up.

Pool play went well with Durham Attack winning over Etobicoke Wildcats 25-9, 25-19 and Storm Cyclones 25-18, 25-21. After a three hour plus wait we met Storm Thunder in the cross over. The girls were on fire for the first game winning 25-7.  Storm picked up the pace in the second set however we emerged victorious with a score of 25-23.

Next up was the number 1 seeded Barrie Elites 16U Black team.  The first set was tight all the way with our girls pulling out a 26-24 win.  The second game started out very close as well but we pulled away at the three quarter mark and won 25-19.

On to the gold medal match!  Our competition this time was the Maverick Outlaws, a strong 16U team out of Ottawa.  This was the highlight match of the day with exceptional play by both teams.  The Mavericks came out fighting and took the first game 25-20. Our girls dug deep for the second game and won 25-23. The third game went to the Mavericks 15-10.

All in all a great weekend – exciting volleyball, excellent teamwork, good fellowship and a silver for the team and the coaches!
