Victory is Ours

It was our first actual, real 15U tournament this year, and we brought home the Gold medal!

We had a slow start for our first game against DRVC orange but we still came out on top, winning both straight sets [25-11] and [25-14].

Going into the second game we played the Ottawa Kangaroos.  Picking up momentum and cheering louder along with the encouragement from our coaches, we were able to take both sets once again.  The scores were [25-16] and [25-18].  We came first in our pool.

FIVE HOUR WAIT! It was way to long.  After eating, watching some of the other games, and having our rest period we had to pump ourselves up.  So, why not try sumo wrestling?  It worked before!  Taking pictures, videos and running around in the spare gym woke us up and gave us a chance to get our heads in the game!

Our third game was against Brant Tornado’s.  We were determined and worked together as a team.  Every player put forward their best effort and tried some of the plays that we were taught during practice.  Our bench was cheering and everyone was focused on this game, winning both sets [25-15], to move us on to the semi-finals against DRVC blue.

The semi-finals were very intense and challenging.  We played with confidence and determination and won the first set [25-20].  DRVC challenged us and came back winning the second set [14-25].  We were not done yet, going into the third set everyone was pumped including our coaches and parents.  This was one of our stronger serving games, and fighting point-for-point we ended up finishing with the winning score being [15-9].  Now we moved onto the finals!

The final match came down to us and a team we didn’t know much about…The Cambridge Hawks.  Last game of the day, everyone was exhausted but we knew it wasn’t over yet.  Taking the first set [25-18].  Second set caught up to us as they were up by 18-22.  Giving us a run for our money… the ending score was extremely close, I'd say too close! [25-23] but, in the end ATTACK RED BROUGHT HOME THE GOLD for TIER 2, and advance on to Tier 1 for the next tournament.

Good Job Ladies & Coaches J thank you!

ATTACK RED!

GO ATTACK!
