15U Black girls has a
short trip to Mississauga this weekend to play in the McGregor Cup.
The girls started out with a bang taking the first match against the Etobicoke
Titans 25-6 and 25-10. Then they moved on to Toronto West and were successful
again but with slimmer margins of 25-17 and 25-20.
Time for lunch and it was a huge hit. The Bournes had delicious homemade
soup, a wide variety of sandwiches and special salads for the hard working
coaches.
Back to the courts to meet Storm Thunder for our cross over game. As
anyone who has followed our girls over the past 3 years knows, there is a strong
rivalry between these two teams and it’s bound to be a nail biter when they play
each other. The first game went to Storm with a score of 22-25. Our
girls fought back to take the second game 25-21. The third game was close
but we couldn’t pull off the win and the final score was 11-15.
Losing the cross over meant the girls were now playing off for fifth place
against Forest City. We went three games and won the match with scores of
25-19, 25-27 and 15-8. Not a bad day from a wins and losses point of view
as we won three of our four matches, unfortunately the cross over was not the
one to lose.
Watch out for our next 15U tournament – we’ll be looking to make it a Happy
Valentine day on Feb 14th!
