Home > Girls 13U White in Bowmanville - Off to a Great Start!
|
The The 13U white team has been hard at work over the past few months, building
and honing their skills under the direction of Coaches Chris Dunn and Troy
Neill. The culmination of their hard work was evident in the years’ first 13U
Provincial Cup Tournament in Bowmanville, on December 13th.
|
The team was a
little nervous going into the tournament, uncertain of the competition they
would be facing.
In the first match the DA White girls met the DRVC Orange team. Our girls
won all 3 games decisively - 25-12, 25-12 and 15-12! The serving was strong and
consistent, good sets and good defense. The coaches and parents alike were very
impressed with the girls’ first set - what an awesome start and a great
confidence booster!
|
The second
match found the girls pitted against the challenging Scarborough Titans.
This was a big, hard-hitting team, and our girls gave it their all, finishing a
close 19-25 in Game 1. While the Titans continued strong to take the next
2 games (12-25, 4-15), our girls rose to the challenge, playing a great
defensive game, fighting off tough serves, digging deep and never giving up.
They held their own, playing extremely well against a top-ranked team and made
us all proud. DA White ended up in second place in Pool B - way to go
girls!

After enjoying a Secret Santa gift exchange and a delicious, long lunch, the
girls were back on the court, facing Storm Ice in the first match of the
re-pool. The girls had difficulty regaining focus and struggled to deliver
the same calibre of play they had earlier proven they were capable of.
Storm Ice prevailed (15-25) in Game 1 and the girls came very close before
conceding 23-25 in Game 2.
In their second match the girls faced Storm Blizzard, splitting the first 2
games (25-22, 22-25) before coming out victorious in Game 3 (16-14). They
proved they have what it takes!
|
After a very
long day, the girls faced their 13U DA Black clubmates in their last match of
the day. In the first game, the White team struggled but put up a good
fight to end with a final score of 16-25. They tried to keep up but fell short
in the second game losing 8-25. A good effort, against a good team.
|
  |
All in all, a great first tournament for the 13U DA White team – great team
spirit, good sportsmanship and a competitive edge – a sign of great volleyball
to come! Congratulations girls you did well and should be proud!
A special thanks to the coaches for their outstanding support and skill
development, and the parent volunteers who helped make the tournament a success.
