On December 6, 2008, the 15u Red Girls played in the 16u Girls Provincial Cup.
We were seeded as 6th with DRVC 16u, Attack Black 15u, and Ganaraska Wolves in
our pool. Although we had a tough pool, we tried our hardest and put great
efforts into a 3rd place finish in our pool.
Our first game of the day started
off facing DRVC 16u. With tough servers and many hits, we pushed but lost the
first game 25-10. The second match didn’t go so hot either when we lost
25-9. Second game that we
played was against our own home team, Durham Attack Black 15u! An
excellent game was played and we had our coaches proud. Even though we
lost 26-24, this was a well played match between both teams. In the second
match, we tried just as hard and held our own, losing 25-17. Good game
ladies and thank you Black for such a good game of excellent volleyball.
The third game we played was right
after our second but since we were warmed up, we figured, why not? We
faced Ganaraska Wolves and took both games with scores of 25-10 and 25-5.
Good playing ladies.

With pool play over, we got re-pooled. In our new pool were the Breakers
and another home team, Durham Attack Red 16u. We first played Attack.
Playing familiar faces was tricky, but we managed to pull up our red socks and
won both sets 25-22 and 25-20. Excellent work, girls!
The very last game of the
tournament, we faced the Breakers. We were very tired but yet, we knew
that was no excuse. We took the first game with a score of 25-14.
Next match, we tried hard, but lost 16-25. Knowing how much we hate those
nail biting tie breakers, we took a deep breath and played with the same
aggression all the way through and took the final game 15-12.
Thank you to our coaches, Linda
Naccarato and Paul McGrath. Special thanks to our two middle players,
Brooke and Noel also for sticking with us through their injuries. Get
better soon, girls! Also, without Chelsea Hazelwood with us, she was still
keeping touch and giving us advice. Thank you, Chelsea. Good playing
girls and keep up the outstanding work and effort.
GO ATTACK!
