Our 15U Black Girls
traveled to Welland this weekend for the first tournament of the season and what
a weekend it was. Things started off well on Saturday morning with a convincing
win over Milton Storm 25-12 & 25-14. The next match was against the Titans Inc.
We won the first game 25-21 and the Titans came back in the second ready to
fight. We won again but it was a battle - final score 28-26.
Time for lunch and then on
to face DRVC in the last game of the preliminary pools. We took the first game,
they took the second and we came out strong for the third game winning it 15-8.
We re-pooled and got ready
for Titans Nemesis only to have them win both games with scores of 25-23 and
25-22. Not a good warm up for the final match of the day which was against Storm
Monsoon, the number 2 seeded team in the tournament. They were fresh off a win
over the Titans and ready to take us down. Game 1 went to Storm 25-21. Game 2
went to Attack 26-24. The girls decided they’d had enough! We led all the way in
game 3 and won by 15-10.
It certainly was an action
packed day and the girls came through in the crunch. Congratulations to everyone
on a successful start to what promises to be a fun filled season!
