14U Black in 15U Tier 2 Ontario Championships

The 14U girls Black team travelled to beautiful Pembroke Ontario for the 15U Tier 2 Ontario Championships. On the Petawawa army base in the Dundonald Hall the girls started off slowly with a loss to the SC Bandits Teal 23-25 and 19-25.

In the second game of pool play the girls came out much stronger with a score of 25-21 and 25-18 defeating the Storm Cyclones. The 3^rd pool play match against Toronto West needed 3 sets with scores of 23-25, 29-27 and 15-12 for us to finish 2^nd in the B pool.

In the cross-over match against Milton Storm the girls handily defeated this team with scores of 25-16 and 25-19.

With this first day behind us we enjoyed a nice Kelsey’s dinner to relax and prepare ourselves for the second day.

After The Award of Excellence presentations, that was awarded to Nicole, we faced Forest City Blue. We beat them in 3 sets.

And what we feared all day did finally happen. We faced our own U15 Red team for a nail-biting match with excellent rallies, deep digs, huge blocks, nice dives, and perfect serving. it was a great game to watch and with scores of 20-25, 25-18 and 15-11 the U14 girls played themselves into the finals.

The finals against Selects ’93 was finished in 2 sets: 25-15 and 25-21, and with this we WON the Gold medal.

PS: Thanks to Jean’s savvy driving, the girls had pheasant for dinner on the Friday night.
