This past weekend saw our 15U Girls' Black Team live up to their reputation of being ranked Ontario #1. They solidified that with a win at this weekend's Ontario Provincial Championships held in London. This completed a perfect provincial season, which saw the girls go undefeated all year.

Day one of the tournament opened with Attack facing the Ambush from the Ottawa Mavericks Club.  Attack took this first match in two straight sets 25-20 and 25-10. Next up in pool play was the Georgetown Impact team.  A little more awake than during their first match, Attack took these two sets relatively quickly 25-15 and 25-16.  Our last game in pool play saw Attack facing the Scarborough Falcons.  Taking the court with authority, the team won this match in two sets, with scores of 25-9 and 25-16.

Next, onto the quarter finals.  Our match up had Attack facing the Barrie Elites and not to be denied, Attack, quickly and with precision, took two straight sets off the Elite team 25-14 and 25-14.  The girls ended day one of the provincials undefeated with a perfect record of 8-0.

The quarter finals had Attack playing the Scarborough Titans, the hard serving team that had been seeded 2nd in the tournament.  Attack came out flying in the first set and literally stopped the Titans dead in their tracks with a score of 25-7.  The second set caught Attack sitting back on their heels and for the first time during the weekend found themselves behind in points.  The girls, not wanting to play a third set, dug down deep and managed to pull out a win in the second set 25-23.

The Semi Finals would prove to be our toughest match of the day as Attack took on the shorter but very determined Stratford Stingers team that had beat them during last year's provincials.  This year's Attack Team had no intentions of letting history repeats itself, so they did what any good team will do and they dug down deep when they really needed it and managed to win in two straight sets 25-23 and 25-23.

The GOLD medal match had Attack playing Defensa out of Oakville.  These two teams put on an offensive showcase, trading explosive attacks throughout the early parts of set one.  The set went back and forth and ended much closer than it should have at 25-22.  The second match saw Attack and Defensa exchange points back and for forth for the first half of the set and then Attack broke the score wide open 22-16.  Not to be outdone, Defensa fought back hard tying the game at 23-23.  With Gold and the Provincial Championship in sight, the 15U's were able to fight hard to win the final set 26-24 - A PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

This weekend, the girls showed what TRUE CHAMPIONS they actually are by bouncing back each and every time and facing the challenge to finish this tournament without dropping a single set.  Of course, the girls were wearing "big targets" all weekend, which means that every team was bringing their "A" game.  As coaches, we are very proud of each and every member of the team, as everyone of them contributed to the overall success of this Provincial win.  Congratulations goes to Alanna Blenkarn who was the recipient of this year's Award of Excellence.  The girls will now work very hard as they build toward the 16U Provincials being held in Burlington in two weeks where they hope to continue to add to their medal count.
