The parents and players of Girls' 14U Black team took their lives
in their hands and headed to Windsor on Friday. Thank goodness all
arrived safely including Coach Dave. This was their final 14U
tournament before the Provincials in April. The girls were keen to
succeed as their finishes in the 15U Tier 2 tournaments had fallen
below their own expectations (not necessarily the same as their
coaches).
Being seeded first gave them an excellent schedule with one game
on, one game off through pool play, and the initial crossover.
Head Coach, Jean, managed to ensure that all girls got to see
court time in pool play which lead to success with Black finishing
first in their pool.
The
four top seeds made it through to the medal round. Finally,
seeding seemed to match the skills of the teams. Once again,
Black faced off against Aurora Storm for the gold medal, but
unlike the 15U tournaments, the girls pulled it all together,
fought hard, played like a true team and won!!! They are now
the proud Gold medal winners of all of their 14U tournaments this
season. Way to go girls!!!
Coach Jean would like to thank all of the parents who took the
chance to drive in such awful conditions. Your girls did you
proud!!!
