Toronto West volleyball
club played host to the 15U Tier 2 Bugarski Cup tournament in
Etobicoke on February 23.
Durham Attack 15U started
the day with a challenging match against the number 1 ranked
Scarborough Falcons. The Falcons served with precision and
presented an extremely strong defense. They consistently
returned powerful Attack hits, refusing to give up their commanding
lead. Attack played well, but the Falcons prevailed to take the
match 14-25, 15-25.
Attack Red’s next match
was with the host team, Toronto West. Game one saw Attack
dominate with strong serving and tight teamwork. The second game
was closer with Toronto West keeping the pressure on Attack.
There were many long, exciting rallies, but Attack stayed focused and
maintained the lead. Attack proved to be the stronger team and
won 25-18 and 25-21.
Durham Attack Red 15U was
ranked 2nd in pool play, and went on to face the Mavericks Ambush in
the cross over. The Mavs were pumped up and extremely focused.
Attack struggled with killer hits from Ambush and many heartbreaking
close line calls. The Mavs kept the pressure on to take the
match 11-25, 16-25.
Losing the cross-over is
always tough, and Attack was disappointed to be out of medal
contention. However, the team quickly put the loss behind them,
and looked forward to the final challenge of the day against DRVC
Blue. Attack was in fine form, and both teams enjoyed the
friendly rivalry on the court. Attack played well, had fun, and
took both games with a score of 25-10. The team left the court
in high spirits and a 9th place finish.
