The Durham Attack 16U Black team inched closer to their ultimate goal of being number one in Ontario.  After a long day the girls were able to come home with Silver Medals in hand in a very competitive day of volleyball.  The girls were ousted in the finals by rival Scarborough Titans in a competitive final. Give credit to the Titans as they seemed to execute almost every attack that they attempted.

Pool Play started of against Defensa, a 15U team ith a lot of athleticism and energy.  Our Attack girls were up to the challenge and took the first Match 2-0.  Match 2 against the number 4 ranked Caps from Ottawa saw the girls dominate the first set 25-11.  Game two was a different story as the Caps played much better forcing our girls to dig deep and deliver strong attacks to come away with a close 25-23 game 2 to take the match 2-0.

After the round robin the Attack were seeded 1st in their pool, and now looked forward to a long 5 hour wait until our first playoff game.  KW Predators would be our first road block in the day as they forced us to a 3 set tiebreaker.  Unfortunately both teams had to overcome an obstacle on the court as the basketball net hung right in the path of our left side set.  Durham Attack would focus and adjust just enough to win the exciting quarter final and advance to the semi-final against #1 ranked South County Bandits.  The Bandits had a very BIG offence coming from the middle which our girls did a very good job defending.  Good defence, a strong offence, and determination gave the Attack their second straight 3 set victory.

The 16U division seems to be wide open this year with many teams having a great chance to win.  We know that we have to be at our best for every match heading into Provincials.  Congratulations to the 15U Black team who beat many of the top-ranked 16U teams in the province.

Next up for the 16U Black Team is next weekend against the top 17U teams in Ontario.
