10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008, Durham Attack 14U Black Girls take to the court at Kipling Collegiate in Toronto. This is their first appearance in a 15U Tier 2 tournament.  Wouldn' it figure that their first opponent would be Toronto West seeded first in Tier 2.  The girls, showing no fear playing up a year, handled them easily winning two straight sets.  They turned around immediately and faced South County Bandits and did the same thing.

Then came a 3 hour wait to play their crossover match.  Who would they face....Aurora Storm, their main opponent in 14U Tier 1.  Aurora had finished 3rd in their pool and had played two more matches during that 3 hour wait for D.A.  They were energized and really keen to defeat D.A.  Our girls were also keen, but paid a high price for a 3 hour gap, coming on to the court a little sluggish and fell behind quickly.  Unfortunately, they never made up the gap and went down to defeat in two straight.

This put them into a match for 5th/7th against Forest City Green from London.  The girls played with their hearts on their sleeves losing in two, with the second by only 2 points.

All the girls are to be congratulated for playing well enough to remain in Tier 2 and sticking with it for a very long and tedious day. Next up is the 14U Tier 1 tournament in London, February 2. The future lies ahead and everyone knows that the Durham Attack Black 14U girls continue to be a team to be reckoned with.
