Home > Durham Attack14U Goal One: To make it into 15U Tier 2 - ACCOMPLISHED
|
Far, far away in our National Capital (Ottawa) ten 13 year-old
girls began their trip in the forest of 15U tournaments.
After winning three straight matches handily, this young, patient
group waited three-and-a-half hours to meet up with Aurora Storm
14U in the semi-finals. Although cold from the long wait,
these ten young girls found the strength to put up their best
passes, digs, sets, hits and serves to take the match in three
sets.

They
then had to face the Pine Trees of Milton Storm 15U for the gold
medal. Tired, but eager to play, six girls walked onto that
court and brought their best skills - winning the first set,
losing the second set 26-24, and for the second time going into a
third game beginning on our worst side of the court. When
they switched at 8 these six soldiers were behind. I guess
they really didn't like this, so settled in and took the match
15-11.

Jean and Dave, their quickly aging bench coaches, were ecstatic. These ten
13 year olds proved the old adage: "If at first you don't succeed, try, try, and
try again." They never gave up.
Congratulations
to all ten of the players who contributed to this wonderful victory....looking
forward to next week
in Whitby. |
