Durham Attack 15U Red gained valuable court experience by participating in both the 15U and 16U Provincial Cup Tournaments in November.

15U Provincial Cup

The Titans hosted a well organized tournament on November 10 at the U. of T. Scarborough campus.  Attack Red won the first match against the Stingrays 93 with ease (25-7, 25-14).  The effortless victory may have resulted in the team letting their guard down.  When they hit the court to face the Storm Cyclone, 15U Red was not in fighting form.  There were many uncharacteristic errors, resulting in a match loss against the Storm 18-25, 21-25.  The final match of pool play pitted Durham Attack Red against SFVC.  Attack Red began to pull together and serving improved.  However the team often put a little too much energy behind the ball resulting in a numerous of out-of-bounds calls.  The match fell to the Falcons 14-25, 16-25.  Attack Red went into the lunch break feeling frustrated and disappointed with their play in matches 2 and 3.

The coaches and the girls took the opportunity to learn from the morning’s challenges and devise a strategy for moving forward.  By the time they were on court warming up for the first afternoon match, the team was stronger, mentally and technically.  The Storm Thunder came on strong to take the first game 16-25.  Attack was in no mood for defeat and played very well in the second game to win 25-10.  The tie breaker was a nail-biter with Durham Attack fighting hard to a match victory (15-13). At last, Attack Red U15 was back!

The final match of the day 15U Red was playing more like themselves.  The Burlington Blaze put up a strong effort, but Attack Red took the first game 25-21. The Blaze played very well to steal the second game 25-14.  The final game resulted in a match victory for Durham Attack (15-11).

It was a roller coaster day. The team faced many challenges with strength and determination. Attack 15U Red is to be commended for working through some difficulties to emerge stronger at the end of the day!
16U Provincial Cup

Durham Attack U15 Red also participated in the 16U Provincial Cup hosted by Durham Attack in Port Hope on November 17, 2007. (Kudos to Durham Attack Volleyball Club for a well run tournament!)  The team opened the day with a close fight against the Storm Vortex conceding the match in the tie breaker (25-22, 21-25, 10-15).  Attack U15 Red moved on to play DRVC 16U, taking the match 25-18, 26-24.  The second game was extremely tense but Attack Red had the edge with their competitive spirit and strong teamwork. Durham Attack 15U maintained their momentum in their next match against the Ganaraska Wolves. The Wolves fell to Attack Red 25-16, 25-10.

After being well fed and rested, Attack took the court to face fellow club team Attack Black 15U.  Perhaps feeling a bit intimidated, Attack Red didn’t play as well as earlier in the day.  The match went to Attack Black 10-25, 14-25.

The final match of the afternoon saw Attack Red 15U pitted against DRVC 15U.  Attack Red put up a good fight but DRVC played really well to win the match 11-25, 16-26.

ttack Red appreciated the opportunity to face two of the best teams in 15U tier one. Overall, Durham Attack 15U Red had a great day at the 16U Provincial Cup, and gained some excellent tournament experience!
