Durham Attack Girls 14U Red at 15U Provincial Cup

17U Provincial Cup on the weekend, the girls of Durham Attack 14U Red played their first tournament of the year in Scarborough in a 15U tournament. The girls tried their hardest against bigger teams with many dives, serves and attacks all day.

In the first game of their season, they were defeated by Storm Lighting with scores of 14 – 25 and 9 – 25. The next game didn’t go so hot either. We played against Titans Soul (#2 Seed). We lost each set 6 – 25 and 13 – 25. The next game against Burlington Blaze was very close. We lost the first set 26 – 24, but came up and won 25 – 23. In the tiebreaker round, we lost an extremely close game 13 – 15. Good playing girls!

After a long wait, we played the Stringrays, but lost the first match 19 – 25. In the next match, the girls got ahead and won 25 – 18. That meant another tiebreaker. With a strong fight, we lost 8 – 15.

By the end of the day the ladies had pulled up their red socks and won the first set against Storm Fury 25 – 21, but lost the next one by a close 28 – 26 score. For their very last game, but the first game with their red jerseys on, they won 15 – 9. Great Job!

So with this experience, we’ll do great at our 14U tournament in 2 weeks. Many thanks to John and Darryl for their awesome coaching. Also, congratulations to Zinet and Erica/Linda for their one - two finish at their school tournament and to Rayan for her team’s strong fifth finish (out of 48 teams!).
